How to get a Medical MJ Certification in Virginia?

To shop in a dispensary you will need:
- Virginia state ID with current address
- Written certification issued by the doctor after your telehealth encounter.
What is new in Virginia ?
Answer : Only the Doctor's certification is needed
As of July 1, 2022, patients only need a written certification from a Registered Practitioner for Medical MJ. Patients (and also parents/legal guardians) no longer need a Medical MJ card. They are no longer required to register with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Registration is optional.
To shop at Virginia dispensaries, they must bring :
- a valid, government issued ID
- a printed copy of their unexpired written certification.
What are the medical conditions to obtain a certification ?
In Virginia, there is no list of qualifying conditions. According to the law, a registered practitioner may issue a written certification for the use of Medical MJ “for treatment or to alleviate the symptoms of any diagnosed condition or disease determined by the practitioner to benefit from such use.”
